and apart from the very occasional ectopic beat my heart is still behaving. Have had some heartburn but nothing much. Groin is fine and bruising has all gone. Am still taking things quite easy but have been doing a bit more around the house and doing more walking, not fast just normal pace. Still get quite tired, but things definitely going in the right direction and feeling good. Definitely found the recovery after this ablation harder and slower than after Flutter Ablation, shows we react differently to each ablation and that we definitely have to heed the advice in the recovery fact sheet!

4 weeks post AF Ablation ....,
I had my 2nd (under ga this time) 2 weeks ago & recovery has been much better than the 1st. Cardiologist thinks Flec brought on the flutter so took me off it 2months ago. Like you I have had few ectopics but have taken things at a slower pace as I have found tiredness more of a problem but in a good way. Fact sheet very helpful. Hope your recovery continues to go well
Great News
I'm at the same stage, ablation was 4 weeks ago tomorrow. Still getting some chest pain, but my energy levels are improving, although I still get tired very quickly. I had a bit of a setback last weekend due to developing a sore throat, which made me feel grim for a couple of days. I've been getting occasional, very brief runs of AF but I was told that would happen. Gradually increasing how far I walk and I'm determined to get back to my usual 3 miles each day. The dogs are not impressed with these short walks! The worst bit for me was the visual disturbances during the first 2 weeks, but that's gone now. So grateful for all the advice and support from the good people here.
Best wishes, hope your recovery continues
Glad to hear you're feeling overall better. I'm having an ablation set for April 2nd I was going to do it last year but it was decided to hold off my question is what many people describing how they're feeling and how they're doing we don't really know how a person was before or what their overall state of health is, I think sometimes this gives a skewed impression of what ablation may do for someone I know myself I am 59 but overall in really good health I mean that I got cardef for being under 40 today. I would say My overall Fitness level to be fairly strong I lift Weights those type of things I wonder how much is this impact the recovery and the success
Trashsite,
Not Medically trained but suspect in general that if you have no other co morbidities and you are fit then you will recover quicker.
I was 57 when I had my afib pvi cryo ablation and there was no problem at all . I was fine in a couple of days. (As soon as the groin healed). However I then developed a flutter possibly promoted my taking flecainide for the afib ( this advised by my EP) my hr was 140 for 3 weeks before I had a second ablation for flutter. Again the ablation was no problem but the flutter was very symptomatic so over the 3 weeks I was only lying down or sitting down and my muscles were not in good shape and i was exhausted by the 3 weeks high hr. A week after be second ablation I could not keep up with my wife walking ! I could previously run 6 miles averaging 8 minute miles across country with hills . However i gradually increased my exercise walking increasing mileage up to 9 miles then running part of the walk so after about 3 months I was almost back to the 8 minute miles average over 6 miles , and the fact as I was slower was mainly owing to me deciding to not exceed 155bpm during the run unlike previously to the ablations, so I run a bit slower than previous. I am not competing for anything.
HOWEVER you say you are a fit guy, are you a super athlete who may have developed a fib owing to this? I was not I just ran 4 to 12 miles a week and cycled 20 to 50 miles a week max, with some circuit training for a hour a week to keep fit. If you think your afib was exercise related so you would have a different experience to me. I actually had 20 month period where I discovered that If I got afib , I went running and in a mile or so my heart went back into NSR. Unfortunately my afib developed and this trick stopped working., the drug regime got worse , more side effects, so I had the ablation.
I have been drug free since May 2018 so the ablations definitely worked for me. I do get ectopics but mostly ignore them unless they are long runs, but I can have months when I don't noticeably get them. Even when I do have the long runs they are just an irritation( and a worry- is afib coming back?) . However they do not stop me doing anything. (Not even cycling or running).
Best wishes.
