Have you tried the deep slow breathing exercise?

Hiatus hernia and oesophagitis make deep breathing difficult and it never stopped the ectopics anyway. But thank you.

Aw I really feel for you Gwersey. I know how utterly wretched they are & they do get you down. They are the devil's spawn in my opinion. The more you get the more anxious you become & its a vicious circle. Try the deep breathing like Bob has suggested & try & distract yourself. Not easy I know. Hope it helps a little bit to know I am thinking of you 🌻

Going to try not eating for 24 hours, see if that eases them.

You just want them to stop don't you. I absolutely hate the little blighters. Hope the 24hr fast works 🙏❣

It's awful and i think in my case the stress and worry makes it prolonged. Try deep, measured breathing as much as your able and I normally prop myself up in bed as lying flat makes it worse it seems. It's horrible and worrying but I do hope it resolves soon for you.

Ian.

Are you taking magnesium?

If not, try it. It is likely to work/help.

If it was me, I would begin by taking a decent hefty dose(1000mg)and keep it up daily. Once it’s made a difference, scale it back to ~800mg.

The last time I had a bout of late night, troublesome ectopics with added tachycardia (few years ago now), I dissolved powdered magnesium citrate in warm water and drank it. It took around 10-15 mins to work.

Be at home, near a toilet, when you take your initial dose.

It’s so worth doing, at least worth a try.

Also you could try lots of forceful coughing.

Once, before I began taking magnesium, I was experiencing a 3-4 week period of continuous ectopics/biginemy and awaiting a 24 hr holter monitor when I developed a horrible winter coughing virus. A few days of vigorous coughing and one day before my holter was due, all the ectopics stopped!

I take a magnesium supplement, 800mgs daily. But, because I take PPIs, the benefit is negated. I still take it however, hoping a trickle will get through.

I know it is not helpful to tell you that in the vast majority of cases ectopics are benign but it is true.

It has never made me feel any better to know that and you have my total sympathy.

The only thing I have found that helps is meditation and relaxation. There are a number of online YouTube videos that aid meditation and relaxation it might be worth trying.

I know also that for some magnesium can help but If you want to try that make sure your Doctor is aware of your intentions.

Hope it all settles down for you soon.

Ectopics can be really troublesome - I had them a lot more when I was on Bisoporol and know how awful they can make you feel

Sorry to hear you are struggling with ectopics, they are awful. Currently dealing with them myself plus pauses and I loath them, they drive me to distraction. I have gastric problems and I am sure my heart impacts on the gastric aspect as does the gastric issue on my heart. I started ppis in December for reflux and low and behold the ectopics started within days. I recall the same thing happened when I took them before. I have stopped them now but the whole ectopic saga has been triggered so I am stuck with them until they eventually settle.

I am fed up with being reminded of my heart every few minutes with the ectopics and twice in a month they have triggered af episodes argh.

I feel your upset.

Hi, I take PPI's too. Can you get magnesium that you rub in the skin rather than digest? Then you may feel the benefit?

I did try the liquid magnesium. Bought 2 bottles actually! Apart from irratating my skin, it made no difference. It was the medium price range one I bought.

Are you still burdened with ectopics? I seem to remember you saying they had eased off with new medication. Several months ago it was.

Better You has a magnesium oil for sensitive skin which may be an option for you. Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning 🌼
