I had a successful ablation 4 years ago for my paf. I feel so luck as my paf was a real nuisance. No drugs or meds for 4 years.
I don’t understand something that I suspect someone on this forum will answer.
I can walk for miles with my dog and walk a golf course no problems. But, sometimes if I am in a hurry and get out of the car and walk quickly I feel my heart missing beats for a few minutes. It also happens when I first take a breath of cold air.
I just don’t understand why?
If any of you have a thought on it I am very grateful
Thank you

Sopunds like ectopic(oput of place) beats which are very common. Everybody regardless of AF or no have several hundred a day but we AF people notice them. They are considered benign so best ignore unless they are sustained over many hours.
I just wondered why at those times it happened. I just breathe through it. I like to understand things.
It was you that encouraged me to have the ablation at the start of my af journey. I took your advice and am now 4 years free of af (mostly) and no meds.
I did enquire about anti coagulation but they said at 66 with no comorbidity that the risk outweighs the benefit. Plays on my mind a bit but took the advice
Sounds like ectopic beats which in of themselves should not be of concern. However, if you want to know for sure, get a home Kardia or Apple Watch and take an ekg during these episodes and then send to your cardiologist or ep. Alternatively, you could have your doctor hook you up to a Holter type device to capture the events.
I had my ablation last September and got a lot of ectopic beats for a while, now I only get them occasionally, but it did worry me. I asked on here about it and the replies reassured me, it was normal and I did an ECG on my portable ECG monitor and I put it onto my phone and showed it to my Dr when I had my follow- up appointment, after Christmas and he reassured me it was perfectly ok and the ectopic beats were normal and everyone gets them, so I don’t worry about them now. Hope your AFib stays away.
