Hi all, Im sat having a cuppa, nice and chilled and my heart suddenly started to Labour. You can see it bumping through my clothes. Is this usual? I’m feeling fine if a bit lethargic. It goes as fast as it came on?
I’m have Paroxysm AF. I’m on statins, pradaxa and 10 mg of bisoprolol. All the meds suit me .
Does any one else have this? My mam has an aneurysm so I’m nattering too much msybe?
Thankyou.

This is just my personal opinion. I used to wonder how AF could come on when I was just sat relaxing and feeling totally stress free. I honestly believe the answer is because we 'forget' to breath properly. Deep breathing as soon as I get the warning bumps can often forestall an attack for me.
Hi jean thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if it is an AF attack? It just starts beating hard but not irregular. I notice it while I’m just relaxing mostly. I don’t feel Ill and rarely have an attack thank the Lord. I’m just hoping it’s not something else other than AF. I just wondered if anyone had experience similar. I’ll mention it to my doctor, just didn’t know if I should go sooner than later. Do I need more tests? You know that kind of thing?
If your heart is beating fast and regularly for more than half a dozen beats, then this is most likely atrial flutter (AFL) I would think. AF and AFL often go together. I have it all the time. Mention it to your GP, maybe she could loan you a KARDIA ecg device to catch a record of the heart beats.
If the runs do turn out to be AFL, and are short and not bothering you, it’s not a cause for concern. But it could be other things and it does need to be checked out.
Thanks so much for that. I mentioned my mam had an anurism and it’s scared me to be fair. Im sure there are some tests that I’ve not had. Thanks Oyster.
I get all sorts of odd beats, which I ignore when they're short lived, but yours sound to be very strong. I think you should just mention it to your GP.
Yes I used to get that a lot. It was diagnosed as Afib. I too could see my chest moving and also if it was in the night and I sat up and leaned against the headboard I felt as if the whole bed was moving. However I also used to get hot, sweaty, light headed with it and usually ended up in hospital as it never stopped on its own. I can understand how you feel as most of the time it started when I fell asleep. I was put on flecainide, bisoprolol which was wonderful. Then despite my saying I felt so much better I had an ablation and thankfully that did stop it happening even though I was taken off the flecainide, although the ectopic beats and palpitations have come back big time.
Luckily for you it does stop naturally, but in my opinion perhaps the next time you see your cardiologist/EP/GP probably you should mention this. Stay well
