Tia of the eye

I had partial vision loss in my right eye which lasted about 6 seconds No other symptoms were experienced. I was referred to the stroke clinic and had an ultrasound done on the cartoid arteries and a check of the temporal arteries plus a full blood test. All of the tests were fine nothing found. They then said I had a tia of the eye Amourosis frugax. Is this as bad as a normal tia where it might effect speech or movement on one side of the body I have had a/fib for 10 years now 9 years on aspirin and the last year on Xarelto. Up until now I have had no ill effects apart from sometimes walking up a steep hill too fast can make me a little out of breath. They automatically assumed it was a tia even though the tests were negative. Has anyone else had a similar experience.

I had partial loss of vision in one eye - watching TV and could only see the top half. I was away at the time and when I finally got to stroke clinic it was too late to diagnose. My EP was of the opinion that it was a tia. No ill effects and nothing since. Mine lasted about 15mins approx and was before I was diagnosed with AF. I am now on apixaban

Were you on an another anticoagulant at the time?

No. I had not been diagnosed with AF at that time.

Maybe you have had a very tiny clot come from your heart. It’s important for all of us to take our anticoagulants as prescribed and at the correct dose. How much Rivaroxaban are you on?

I am on 20 mg once a day

Yes that does appear to be the standard dose. Unfortunately, anticoagulants can not protect us 100 % from clots forming in the heart.
