Update 3 months since Ablation

Hi Everyone, just thought I’d update you all on where I am up too.

So good news is I’ve been AF free since my few blips after my ablation in early November.

I finish my rivaroxaban today 31/01/19 as instructed from my EP. So today is exactly 3 months post procedure. I’m a bit nervous about coming off my blood thinners do you all think I will be ok if I haven’t had any episodes?

I am a lot better I can walk without getting out of breath or my heart jumping and going really fast. Feels great to be able to do normal things.

I still experience the niggly chest pain in my left side of the chest but you’ve all told me this is normal and I could experience this for up to 6 months post ablation.

I get married in April and going on a France & Italy road trip for my Honeymoon, then we plan on having a baby.

So many things to look forward to just fingers crossed I stay this way 🤞🏻

Just want to say a massive Thankyou for all your advice and support, you have all really helped me through this experience and can’t thankyou enough. I will be sticking around incase I can give any advice to anyone else and share my experiences.

re: the anticoagulants - that really depends on your stroke risk score. Mine's 0 with age and comorbidities on my side. So EP says its fine to stop after 10/12 weeks post ablation as he only really wanted me on it for left sided PVI ablation.

Don't be a stranger! We sometimes forget how helpful our own experiences can be!

Re anticoagulation you are obviously very young so I am sure it will be fine stopping. The "AF makes us five times more likely to have a stroke " thing is five times what risk and at your age and with no other complications that is five times nothing .

Thanks everyone. Your probably right about the anticoagulant I am only young and it was only the AF that had me at a stroke risk and I haven’t had any attacks for a few months now.

I also had an ablation mid Oct and have been doing fine, no episodes. I would however, in the past have a three month span of no episodes, so I'm in a wait and see mode. No regrets though.

I have also cut out meat and dairy, not 100% but close. There is a limit and they are not going to deprive me of a spoon of ice cream on my berries etc. I also walk about 8 km a day as exercise. I have lost 15 lbs, stopped taking the Bisoprolol, which I didn't like, and feel much better.

Now, I am 70 years of age and in a different category than you are. My EP, who is one of the best on the west coast of Canada, told me that my change in diet and losing weight probably did more to help my Afib than the ablation. He is a very strong advocate for weight control, proper diet etc. I also believe that in general, many of us could do more to help ourselves in regards to modern day diseases.

Sorry Amy, I'm not trying to preach to you, just ranting. Glad to hear you are doing well and hope you have an Afib free life.
