After 4 days free of any AFIB a lengthy episode- milder in nature but a few hours long- understand in the throes of blanking though worried that this is becoming more indicative of failure of procedure... occurred while sitting and enjoying company ... any thoughts?
3 weeks post cryoablation- still havi... - Atrial Fibrillati...
3 weeks post cryoablation- still having episodes...
All fairly normal missy, it is obviously a worry, but it’s what can and often does happen during the recovery period. If you need some re-assurance, why not contact the hospital and if it continues, ask if PiP medication might help.
Thank you for your thoughtful response FlapJack...Just feeling a tad discouraged, on the one hand, my sensible hand - I fully understand, on the other, my emotional side- not as much.
HiHi,
Hi Missy
As Flapjack suggested, breathe easy and wait. Should the procedure not work for you, it is not the end of the road.
Been there

Thanks- I have to remind myself of that fact - that perhaps another procedure or other options will need to be explored...should this one not have provided relief.. 4 weeks today since so still in blanking period but it does appear to be getting more frequent instead of less- can't be a good sign but still hoping for the best.
The fact that the episode was milder in nature is your clue that the ablation is doing it's work. I've read on here that some people are still improving their quality of life 9 months after ablation so you are in very early days currently.
It was about a month for me before I thought I'd turned the corner but I know I'm at the lighter end of this condition so there is probably less to fix, everyone is different so try to stay calm and get on with life as best you can. Fingers crossed you will see step by step improvements over the coming months... Good luck 👍
Many thanks- my paroxysmal AF was diagnosed in August after less than a year of noticing the irregular heartbeats and procedure end of October. Yesterday was a worse day with 2 separate episodes each lasting a few hours. They were not milder in nature so a bit discouraged but remaining hopeful. I may have overdone it as well with a houseful of family and friends...with Thanksgiving this week I will again be hosting a crowd but will be more mindfully and take a few breaks! Again, thanks for the reply.
How old are you? I wrote a post about 4 weeks ago on gender differences (especially with 30-60 yo women) in our immune systems and how that can affect us post ablation. I had an ablation nearly 10 weeks ago and have had a few dramas including daily AF episodes. My EP still believes if we can get the AF under control with meds, the inflammation will settle and in turn the AF will settle and we can reduce the drugs - it’s been a vicious circle. Three weeks is still very early days so don’t feel dejected.
Thanks you for responding. I am a very healthy 63 year old with no comorbidities and weight is fine as well. Interesting take on the immune system and its overall affect post ablation; I will look in to that and hope you are feeling better and better each day. Such an unpredictable ride, that is for damn sure!
