13 days post ablation and back in AF been like this for 25minutes and blurred vision In left eye. Just phoned hospital they said it’s normal after the type of ablation I’ve had. Really struggling though as it’s not stopping yet. I keep trying to stop myself from getting upset because I will make it worse.

It’s so horrible :-(

Hi there, Try your best to stay calm Amy, worrying is natural but it won't help your position. Following my recent ablation it took 3 weeks for things to calm down. During the ablation procedure your heart is really getting irritated so naturally for a while your symptoms might well get worse before they get better. I was told 3 to 6 months before I was to feel the benefits of the ablation, I had mine on 7th September 2018 and I feel loads better now 2 months on.

Have a read of my profile if you like as I have documented my experiences.. Take care and don't worry, you will get there but it's a long-ish recovery process 👍👍

Hi Thankyou for your response. I am now out of it thank god. I calmed myself down as I know it’s the worst thing to do panic. I think it’s just because it’s my first one since the procedure. I will have a read as it’s nice to listen to other people’s experiences.

Thanks again

Amy, relax and read this fact sheet from the AF Association webpage. You will soon see that an ablation very rarely provides instant and total relief from AF. Unfortunately it takes time for the heart to recover from the trauma of being either burned or frozen so you must try and be patient. All the added anxiety will not help!

It may take a month for symptoms to ease, it may take less, but you will fill better soon.

You are so right it’s worse to get anxious. I am out of it now and managed to calm myself down. I think it’s just because it was my first one since the ablation.

Thanks for your response I need to realise it takes time.

Thanks again

It’s a shame the hospital’s do not make us more aware of what might happen during the recovery process. You will be fine in a few days or so.

If you have A/F and blurred vision, or vision that looks like a kaleidoscope then you are right to seek medical advice.
