yes very definitely Afib must run in families. I made a tree of incidence in my family and sent it to an Italian professor who was researching at Manchester Royal. I was diagnosed aged early 50s. My mother and all three of her siblings had suffered from it and all four had died of strokes (as have two first cousins in Australia). Strokes in one of my family lines go back into 19th C when 9 out of 11 children in one family in my line died in infancy of convulsions or seizures. Fortunately my four siblings are not suffering. I might add I had a stroke aged 63 just before I was due to start on Warfarin. So my advice -take the anticoagulants if they are prescribed. BTW I'm okay and 72 now. I'm on waiting list for a pacemaker and then an AV ablation, having had two hospital admissions for aFib in the spring. Meds could not control (nor a cardioversion )

That's all very interesting. Hope all goes well for you now with your planned pace/ablate procedure.
