I am thinking of going back on antidepressants. I have had two catheter ablations for afib with my last one being one year ago. I am experiencing ectopics now and may need to go back on Sotalol if I drop back into afib. Is it safe to take antidepressants with Sotalol or other anti-arrhythmics?

Best to ask your GP and check with the EP or cardiologist about the ectopics, May need an evaluation.
And also ask about programs to overcome the need for antidepressants.
Best to you, nmack. Try to be positive. May you be successful.
All antidepressants, so far as I know, can affect the heart in some ways and caution is needed in their use. Your doctor should know and work within the various protocols and guidelines the NHS sets.
Steve
since my STEMI, cardiac arrest which has left me with bits of a few arrhythmia’s I’ve had generalised anxiety. After speaking with EP, who said anxiety doesn’t cause arrhythmias but aggravates what you have Ive started on sertraline ( I believe it’s also used for depression). Before suggesting sertraline the EP went away and looked up which was the safest for my heart situation. I’d already been to counselling which had helped but not enough. Your cardiologist or EP are more likely to know which is the safest for you rather than your GP.
mental health is very important when you have a heart condition as it’s known to have an impact on your heart health. Good luck.
