Nervous feeling

I was just released from taking stolotol 120mg x2 a day. I had a cryoabalation on July 27th 2018. It’s been 3 days and according to my Kardia there are no abnormalities in my ekg. I feel a lot of epic beats that I haven’t experienced before. It is making me very anxious. Is this normal? Should I contact my doctor? What are some thoughts. Any advice welcome

Sotalol is not normally recommended in the UK Kahst but it is recommended that patients are weaned off betablockers over a period of several days, even weeks, to give the body a chance to adjust. If you just stopped the dose suddenly, this could be the reason for your problem. If I were you, I would speak to the doctor as soon as possible. Ectopics are not normally a problem although they can be very unpleasant. There are some deep breathing exercises which might help but talk to your doctor. Hope this helps....

I have read about taking smaller doses but he was adamant about just stopping. I am going to call him today just to be sure. I have an appointment in 5 days as a checkup. Thank you for your response.

Well you could take some 5 minute recordings on your Kardia. From what you say it won’t be long before the ectopics you are feeling are caught on the recording. Email the record to the arrhythmia nurse, and ring to tell them you have done that.

That’s quite a big dose of Sotalol. Stopping it suddenly might explain your anxiety because Sotalol has normal betablocker actions as well as being a rhythm control drug. Your EP would not have stopped the Sotalol straight off if he thought this would put you at any significant physical risk.

I understand your nerves. I’m in UK and had my first post-ablation ( carried out mid-May 18) follow up yesterday. I’ve been on Sotolol pre and post ablation (40mg x2 day) and was told that I can now stop. My dosage was much lower but I feel as if my safety net has gone and am treading warily, not pushing myself physically, until I feel more confident. Probably silly I know but I am a little fearful. Very pleased, though, to stop taking a drug I never liked. Onwards and upwards - hope all goes well with you, Kahst1.

I'm in U.S. on 40 mg Sotalol BID since ablation of node to nowhere causing SVT almost 2 yrs ago. I believe I am to remain on Rx which is fine if it prevents need for further ablation. Can't imagine such a large dose. Are you quite fatigued?
