I am new here. I had my ablation 5 days ago and my blood pressure started to go up two days ago. I still take the same bp meds as before, and they have added colchicine, pepcid and famotadine to the mix. Could any of those be causing an increase in my bp? It was normal when I left the hospital.

High blood pressure after ablation
The thing that really takes my BP up is not pills, but my mind! The slightest stress and up it goes! If I do slow deep breathing in, then let the air come out fast through my mouth it soon goes down again. Perhaps give that a try for a minute or so, to see if it helps you.
Best wishes

My BP went up a day after my ablation. I think the pain and trauma on the body can wreak havoc with the BP. I was on a very low dose of BP meds prior to my ablation so I contacted my specialist who advised me to increase my dose. Now, a few days later and it’s good. It was a little high earlier today but my last reading tonight was only 86/71 so hopefully things have settled and I can cut the dose down or cut it out.
My BP was normal (on medication) before the ablation, then, 2 days after it went up to a diastolic reading of the mid to high 90s, where it has stayed for the last 3 days.
Mine was normal too pre ablation and went up to 150/110, which is why my doctor said to up meds.
Maybe I spoke to soon about BP being okay.... now in a bout of AFib and diastolic pressure is nearly 100 🙃
I hope you get back to normal soon! I just got back from the ER, where the BP was normal (of course), but finally went to diastolic of 96, no afib. Doc said to call my cardio on Monday.
First thing is to calm down, I know personally easier said than done.
I have had an ablation earlier this year and I came off all the meds. Those meds included, Calcium Channel blockers which reduce BP. I expected my BP to increase because of this when i stopped them, but In fact it went down as my ablation appeared to be a success , I felt better and was presumably less anxious.
Over the last month I have seen a big increase in my BP. However I have had quite a bit of work stress, some personal worries and am not sleeping well. This culminated in a blood pressure of 163/106 week last Monday after a crap day and a bad 50 mile commute home. This is the worst i have ever recorded. This caused me even more anxiety!
However it was a nice evening so I decided to go for a run round the park.
5 .5 miles later and an hours run, and after my hr slowed down, my BP was 119/82.
Nothing different except I had not been stressing for an hour. This has convinced me i do not really have high blood pressure , just high anxiety!
I have had high BP readings since as I am still stressing but am spending time trying not too.
This of course does not rule out the meds as source of your high BP.
I have taken colchicine for a non AF problem previously and had no issues. I do not know the other two drugs so cannot comment, so it is probably a good thing if you check with a qualified doctor.
Best wishes
