Bisoporol and leg pain.

I recently visited the hospital for my yearly appointment in connection with my permanent AF. At the consultation I mentioned that I am having leg pain when walking the EP suggested it could be the Bisoporol and he will write to my GP with alternatives. My question is as any members experienced this kind if pain when walking and if yes was a change of medication successful. I have had all the tests...Doppler and echocardiogram etc you rule out leg vein problem...all clear. Would be intersted in others experiences.

Hi RoyM. I also suffer leg pain when walking. The doctor suggested leg exercises to strengthen them although I would have thought walking would strengthen them! Anyway I’ve just changed from Bisoprolol to Atenolol so I’m hoping to see some improvement. I’m only 6 days in so fingers crossed.

Hi Roym, I was originally on Bisoprolol when I started getting terrible pain in my left calf but was also on 40mg Atorvastatin. I had the same tests as you mentioned and nothing was found. The doctor took me off statins for a month and the pain reduced by 80% , I went back on the statins but at 20mg and that was fine for about a year but I was also put on Sotalol instead of Bisoprolol at the same time following a Cardioversion. All was good for a further 12 months but the pain returned so we did the same test again, stopped taking the statins for a month and once again the pain was reduced. I am now back on 10mg . Whilst I know the above doesn't answer your question unless of course, you are also on statins, but hopefully the info might help someone!

Thats interesting about statins,I was on 80 mg until last month, reduced to 40 mg on my request as cholesterol had reduced from 11.5 to 3.5,,combination of nutrition, exercise and seemed unnecessary to be on this high dose.I'm not keen on over medicating the body so shall investigate this too. Thanks!

Wow, that is an amazing reduction and well done. I am having a blood test next week to see what difference the reduction of the statins has made as the doctor thinks 10mg is hardly worth taking, but like you, I hate taking meds unnecessarily and don't wish to go back up to 20mg.

YES!! Can hardly walk upstairs and having to use a stick on holiday at present,in Stratford on Avon hardly known as mountainous country!I am weaning off bisoprolol as a trial under medical supervision and hope to just use as a Pill in pocket approach or to switch to Nebivolol.Hag by meds review when I get home. This built up over time to intolerable levels.I have had 2_episodes of atrial flutter in the last 6 months, immediately after being put on 200 mg Flecainade for atrial flutter (!) I had been on bisoprolol and disarray alone prior to this, was taken off bisoprolol when started on flec....but now I have no fast AF episode, more of th bag of ferrets in the chest type, have perfect bp,and heart rate averaging 40-50. I am no athlete btw.So the feeling is the flecanaide is doing it's job and the bisoprolol daily dosage is overkill.

I hope this information may help. Many people here have had similar problems, but so me are fine with it.

best wishes

Hi Roy

I get pain in my arms which I call vein pain. . Because it’s just that . Some days it’s that bad I have to wear a tubergrip on my arm to compress it I take Bisoprolol too

Thanks reikimaster and wilsond...I am at present being weaned of Bisoporol reducing it from 2.5mg a day to 1,25 mg a day....it may be wishful thinking but it seems the pain in my legs as reduced quite considerably....hoping the improvement will continue. Thanks for both your replies.. Roy
