Greetings to all. An update of so far so good news.
My stats related to episodic AF: Carvedilol x 8 years, Flecainide since March ‘18 & Xarelto. I’m 69 years old. Ablation was done on July 9th and I went for followup with the EP earlier this week. I’ve had only one event since the ablation and that was on a very sad & messy day shortly after the ablation when our 14yo cat was euthanized. A neighbor brought a good bourbon to share with my husband & I had two sips which triggered afib episode. (I know....duh). My heart rate has increased from 45 to almost 60, so I’m feeling considerably more energetic. EP will let me discontinue Flec in 2 more months and the beta blocker in 5 more months. Certainly looking forward to that!
I’ve gained weight (after Flec added) so have joined Weight Watchers and increased my daily walk from 2 to 3 miles.

Fantastic news for you, I also have a success story, had ablation in April and (touch wood) have never felt better in years. I had a few rumbles of Afib and palpitations which I was warned may happen. I am off Flecainide and waiting to come of Atenolol, I have a few little flutters, usually after I eat a square of dark chocolate but nothing else. so keep positive and long may it continue.
Hi Icklebud - did you experience any changes coming off the Flecainide??
The fatigue that set in after I started taking it last March is one of the main reasons I had the ablation. So am very curious how the shift off will be. Hope you have continued successes. Susan Marie
Always good to read good news. Don't forget it can take three to six months for full recovery so try to stay off the bourbon. Well done and sorry to read about the cat. We are facing similar I fear in the coming days as our matriarch is at least 15 ( she was fully grown with a family when we rescued her) and is very sick.
