Hello I just had my ablation last week I was awake during procedure and are still in shock 😳 was the longest 2.5hrs I ever experienced. And that needle in the groin was horrible. Anyway that’s in the past now I am suffering badly from silent migraines. 7 in a week. First one was in operating room. The whole aura / zig zag light show every time. Lasts approx 20 minutes. They appear whenever and is making outings and work hard. But my heart is beating steady and calmly now. Just feeling weird since ablation and want these portable disco 💃🏻 show to go.

One of many things we mention in our fact sheet about ablation and recovery .It should fade after a few weeks. Work one week after ablation? You should rest for at least two weeks. Whoever told you you could work?

I did check with my ep. It’s our own business and I only do the office work. My ep said just no heavy lifting. I feel alright this week just the auras. And I do feel a little strange? Probably from the auras. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow just to check everything out. It is good to know that they should fade in a couple of weeks. Thankyou BobD

Oh Sunshine, there's no way you should be at work so soon. You need at least two weeks rest and perhaps even longer. Those migraine auras, which I've experienced, are a nuisance (to put it politely) and they do make you feel odd.

Can you leave work and go home?

You need to have a look at the AF guideline information for what it's like after an ablation.

Go to...'AF Association - Patient Information' sticky on the right of the screen,

then select the website

heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...

then click on 'For Patients'

heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...

then 'Patient Resources'

heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...

then 'Factsheets'

heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...

scroll down...

Thankyou for all the info. I will read have a read. My work is only office work. And I have my hubby and son at work to watch out for me. So all is good. 👍

I fully understand when it’s your own business, but don’t be walking around and don’t do anything mentally taxing. Can you just do a rubber band audit or similar 🙂 ? I can tell you from my own recent experience that it is so easy to overdo it in your recovery period.

What are signs of overdoing it? I don’t feel tired. But I have had pain in chest on left side all day. Not sharp pain just constant there.

In one case I walked too far then it suddenly got more difficult. I then had the problem of getting back home again 😱 . It took me a few days to recover. On another occasion I used a motor mower to trim the lawn (it's not been growing recently so just the seed heads). Basically just a slow amble around the garden. Again, I was out for the count the next day 🙁 .

I know where you're coming from. I run my own company and it's difficult/impossible to take time off at times. I did return to work 1 week after my ablation which included quite a lot of travel. It was not ideal but OK. I also have the aural migraines. Just try to relax and enjoy the free light show. Beats Pink Floyd! Mine faded after a couple of weeks.

Yes it is hard with own business. Been doing it for 10 years. And it’s just hubby our oldest son and me. The paperwork doesn’t go it grows like weed. I did have the day off today to take our youngest son to go for his drivers licence. Which he got. On drive to centre I got another aura show. And I was the passenger in the car. Just over it.

This is a serious procedure and your recovery is more important than anything else. By not resting and allowing your heart time to heal you may jeopardise your chances of the ablation succeeding. Then you may need to have another. I know it’s difficult but it will be worse if the AF reruns and you have to do it again.

GO HOME!!

Good luck 🍀
