Hi It's far too hot I am just resting in the house with windows and fan on to be honest

Me too, Vonnie - hot weather has never suited me, and now even less so! Iโ€™m grateful at least that being off work means i can keep out of the sun and heat.

Hope your fan does a good job :)

Very hot here too. We live on a mountain which normally has a cool breeze (gale indeed) so it is a pleasant change - superbly colourful sunsets too.

Keep well hydrated!

Iโ€™m in Florida and weโ€™re having heat indexes-โ€œreal feelโ€- temps of 100+ most days. Avoid working outside 12-4pm and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Spent 4 hours yesterday in emergency being rehydrated and in AFib. Should take my own advice. ๐Ÿ™„

Rebma profile image

Do you find the heat makes afib worse? We will be there from Jan and feb on west coast. I am scared of medical care with this afib and horrible time I have with it. We will be in Sarasota

scienceguy02 profile image
scienceguy02โ€ข in reply toRebma

Jan and Feb are pretty mild in Florida. I have problems with the AFib more in hot summer months because of dehydration. Just remember that regardless of temperature hydrate well and you should be fine.

Did some hedge cutting with the pole trimmer early this morning before it got too hot and then some housework. Went for a drive to cool off and did some shopping and then lunch.(Car said it was 32 degrees. Nearly as hot a Monza. ) Stripped a gearbox this afternoon but 3/4 hour in the hot box which is my workshop was quite enough. "English Officer will work" (Bridge of the River Kwai.) Missed my glass of wine this evening as it was too hot to sit out so spent some time ringing a couple of old friends who I know needed cheering up. Off out into the workshop now to see what the boys are up to.

Roll on summer. ha ha.

Vonnieruth profile image

Pooped ๐Ÿ˜› To make it worse my medication (Diltiazem) causes not flushes. All very well 'hydrating' but my ankles swell up too. At least it is dry heat, I used to live in a humid climate and that was a killer ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Vonnieruth profile image
Vonnieruthโ€ข in reply toBuffafly

Oh Buffafly You elevating your feet when resting In hating this weather I have noticed flushing more since stopping ramipril and my pulse is a little faster Don't know if it's heat or tabs lol guess we all get like this

Doing any chores early in the day or late afternoon, then relaxing in the shade (lucky as Iโ€™m retired though) Plus trying to drink more water than usual. Enjoy if you can, the autumn & winter will be here before we know it. ๐ŸŒž

We Brits are never happier unless we are complaining about the weather ๐Ÿ˜‚

โ€ข in reply toheartmatters1

We do the same here in the USA, Im in missouri well known for hot humid summers and we complain bitterly every time. On the news here, the weather reporters make it worse by reporting the " heat index" which is hotter than the real temperature. If we run airconditioners, we whine about the electric bill๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Kaz747 profile image
Kaz747

Meanwhile, it's winter in Australia and I'm sitting in front of the wood fire. Roll on summer :)

heartmatters1 profile image
heartmatters1โ€ข in reply toKaz747

Your winters are usually better than our summers I believe though - we canโ€™t cope with the heat here when we do get it ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Kaz747 profile image
Kaz747โ€ข in reply toheartmatters1

Yes our maximum today was 16 C and it rained but Sunday is forecast to be 21 and sunny.

Everywhere here is airconditioned so summer isn't too bad, even when it is 40 +.

heartmatters1 profile image
heartmatters1โ€ข in reply toKaz747

Well if we carry on with temperatures like this in the future the air conditioning companies here will make a killing ๐Ÿคช

Broome is 2200kms north of Perth,Western Australia . It has no winter or summer just wet and dry seasons.

Kaz747 profile image

North West Australia. If you google Cable Beach sunsets you'll see awesome photos. They have camel rides at sunset. They have 2 seasons - wet and dry. It's hot most of the time.

Hi Vonnieruth

I'm finding it a total nightmare! Never have coped well with hot weather but not coping at all since the AF. Getting all sorts of weird twinges and feelings coming and going. I wouldn't dare set foot outside in these temperatures. Doesn't help that you can't get a good night's sleep, fingers crossed for some respite soon :)

doodle68โ€ข in reply toGrannyE

Hi GrannyE :-) my blood pressure has dropped too and I didn't know if I should be pleased or worried. I know it is important to drink plenty of water. 25 is hot enough for me ..

Vonnieruth profile image
Vonnieruthโ€ข in reply todoodle68

Mine has to Is it the heat that's cause it as it drops at the evening any way which it's suppose to do

doodle68 profile image
doodle68โ€ข in reply toVonnieruth

Oh well i'm in good company then Vonnie :-)

Time to water the garden, I don't have a hose and use buckets, good exercise for my heart.

I am going away next week and my strawberries and raspberries are all going to ripen while I am away which is really annoying when I have put so much effort into growing them.

Vonnieruth profile image
Vonnieruthโ€ข in reply todoodle68

Aww is there no one can pick them for you and make some jam.Its such a shame to loose them Hope your going somewhere really nice and enjoy it

doodle68 profile image
doodle68โ€ข in reply toVonnieruth

...no one to pick them Vonnie, the birds will think it is Christmas .

Vonnieruth profile image
Vonnieruthโ€ข in reply todoodle68

Is it too early to pick them and let them finish off indoors

Vonnieruth profile image
Vonnieruthโ€ข in reply toVonnieruth

Alternatively if you want to just pick them - green berries have pectin in them so they could be used in a preserve - jam, jelly, syrups or elixirs.

They wonโ€™t ripen properly if you pick them green, they may colour up a little in sunlight on a windowsill but the flavour wonโ€™t ripen in strawberries - the flavour is fixed at the time of picking. Found this online

doodle68 profile image
doodle68โ€ข in reply toVonnieruth

Vonnie :-) that's interesting. I stopped making jam because of the sugar, what is left when I get back I will puree for the children.

doodle68 profile image

Hi Vonnie :-) I drink water with ice and a slice of lemon (unwaxed) and sometimes mint or lemon balm from my herb garden. I like things to be as 'unprocessed' as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to post recipes :-) I don't really eat jam preferring fresh fruit but used to make it for the family.

I find my bp is always lower in the mornings and goes up at night. I always drink plenty of water/herbal teas etc. I think it depends on how you feel when your bp drops. If you feel OK and can still function it should be fine. It is only when you find you cannot function properly and have to lie down with your legs higher than your head that you need to worry!
