Can someone tell me if this forum applies to AFL as well as AFIB? And does the advice apply to both?

Yes is the short answer although they are quite different animals.

Flutter is a fast regular beat where the signals are coming from the right atrium whilst fibrillation is a chaotic non beat coming from the left atrium.

Many drugs used for one will work for the other and both can be treated by ablation. AF Association have a wealthj of fact sheets which may be of interest to you.

Thanks Bob, how do I get the fact sheets?

Also, when I see the term AF does it mean atrial fibrillation only?

Sorry to appear a bit thick 🤪!

No not a problem. If you go to AF Association website and go to Patient resources there is a whole list of fact sheets and booklets.

AF normally means atrial fibrillation whilst many people use AFl for flutter. AF is the most common arrhythmia ( heart not beating correctly) but there are lots of different arrhythmias apart from AF .

AF and flutter can be linked as one can affect the other so treatments can be similar.

I had cardioversion and you are only sedated for about 4 to 5 minutes. I would not let asthma interfere with that. I had it about 3 weeks ago and am taking Xarelto plus BP meds and have been fine since. Don't rule it out. I'd try that before ablation.
