Hello everyone-
I’m hoping this post will give someone hope and optimism as I needed it desperately 6 months ago. I’m 44 and just had my first ablation in NY in January. Afib developed after preeclampsia and high blood pressure issues from pregnancy. I’m thrilled to report that I got the all clear today that for now it’s gone and I’m off the blood thinner. I’m a bit nervous as I’m CHADDS score 2- but my surgeon who is one of the foremost experts on this disease is comfortable with me going off as we continue to monitor for stability . I feel fantastic and have no regrets. My surgery recovery wasn’t as easy as expected in part from some medication complications- but well worth the challenge. If you ar considering an ablation and have access to a doc with a well established success rate I highly recommend it. I had tears of happiness going off this drug as it’s given me some challenges and forced me off my favorite sport. Best wishes to everyone struggling with this disease.
