Well done Vonnie. Best avoid those if you can possibly manage without. They are at best a short term solution for many people.

A walk in the park - sounds lovely, well done you.

I’m sitting in the outpatient’s dept with my husband, waiting for his post cataract op check. This morning I had AF clinic appt, and am wearing a 48hr monitor. Feeling as if we should camp out in the hospital car park!!

So glad you’re getting there Vonnie and all the best with your GP appt x

Lol! Will get a 4 man tent so you can join us! I think they call it a man tent because it has internal pockets that hold cans of lager :-D

It went ok thanks. They confirmed that nothing untoward has been found but I knew that already. Heart monitor is to diagnose exactly what sort of SVT I have but she says that whichever it is It’ll be nothing to fret about.

Haven’t had any itching with Apixaban yet - let us know what GP says x

Superventricular tachycardia ... now you know why I wrote SVT lol! It covers a few types of arrhythmia including AF and flutter xx

I hope I've got that right Vonnie ... googled to check. My cardiologist wrote in a letter that I have AF/flutter, but 48hr monitor should confirm or disprove. I've been reassured that I don't have anything to worry about ... so I won't :-)

Hope af clinic went well and your monitor gives useful information. Trust hubbys cataract op check went ok and all is well. Just back from my abdo MRI a few minutes ago after recent abdo and thoracic ct scans. This hospital lark is no fun. Spent my time in MRI eyes firmly closed imagining being on a beach strolling through clear warm blue sea on a beautiful Peeble beach. Lol.

You must be so pleased your scans are over meadfoot ... thinking about a beautiful beach is such a good idea.

My husband's appointment went well thanks and cataract op has been a success, but we're inundated with other appointments over the next few weeks. I feel like running away and pitching my tent on your beach lol. Let us know how it went won't you, and take care.

I know I rely too much on my car, but yesterday I couldn't as I'd driven it to be serviced and MOT'd in a neighbouring village. That village is only 5 minutes by car but over an hour by bus - one bus into the city, another bus back out to my village. My options were taxi or private hire, two buses, or walk. I haven't walked more than 100 yards for months, yet decided to walk, about 2 miles, but only the first 100 yards and last 20 yards on the flat. Where I live is hilly. The garage is about 200 metres above sea level, the lowest point I went was about 150 metres and home is about 205 metres above sea level. I knew after the long hill down I'd be faced with a short 1 in 7 (14%) hill up, then a less steep hill home. I wear compression socks up to my knees as I have lymphoedema, I have had asthma since I was 29 in 1974, (I'm nearly 73 now), and I have permanent Atrial Fibrillation. My achievement was that I made it. I stopped a lot, especially on the steep hill, but got home before the buses would have got me home. Now I know I can do it I must walk more.

12th September 2018 was the centenary of the death of my uncle in the 1st World War, and as I was the only one of the nephews and nieces to have a passport I went from Yorkshire to the south of Pas de Calais department in France to place flowers on his grave. The cemetery was 5 miles from where I was staying in Bapaume. That area doesn't have public transport as such, but the public are allowed to travel on the school buses, for 1 Euro per journey of any length. I had it all planned out. Buy flowers in the morning, take the 12.02 bus to Arras, and get off at the 2nd stop at Vaulx-Vraucourt. That worked well. I then walked about half a mile to the cemetery at Vaulx Hill. The plan afterwards failed because I couldn't call for a taxi as my mobile had no signal. The alternatives were to wait 4 hours for the next school bus, or walk. I decided to walk. I achieved it at a speed of about 2 miles an hour, often stopping to have a rest, or look at the countryside. I ended up with two blisters, but my breathing and sense of smell improved greatly. As well as permanent AF I am asthmatic, and have lymphoedema in my lower legs so wear knee-length compression socks. ,
