Hello, supportive community. I got it wrong that today's appointment was for surgery. It was a consultation. Looking at the letter I understand. At the initial consultation the doc said that I would be seen within 2 weeks as tiny chance could be cancerous. Today another doctor said within a few weeks so I fully understood. I remained calm. Next she said you will have all the details in a letter. I forget the name- keratin something. The growth will be removed and a flap of skin adjacent, will be put on to cover the 'defect ' Good news I had a phone call from the hospital this afternoon to say my surgery is on 2nd October. Letter in a couple of days. I must stop Apixaban 2 days before.

Update on today's appointment
Were the words a Solar Keratosis? If so I've had at least 20 of them removed over the years and early this year had one removed on my leg and a skin graft. I've also had a squamous carcinoma removed from the top of one of my legs.My daughter had a solar keratosis removed from her nose a few years ago and I think the skin graft was taken from her neck.
It certainly isn't noticeable now and though it was a traumatic and stressful time, we don't think about, or notice it at all now.

At least you have got everything clear now. Hope everything goes well for you on 2nd October.
Hi
You are lucky.
I had a wee carcinoma removed with a skin graft from under my ear. No hair he said.
Doing well. It takes a whilst for it to turn more like your own skin colour.
Just brief sunning in early morning.
When the area has healed get some skin tone colour toput on top. Dont soap it just water but you could use a bit of aloe vera on it. I did and my thyroidectomy. Can't see really.
Take care. Sorted about your anti-co.agulant delayed, stopped?

Thanks, Joy. I have to stop Apixaban 2 days before. Barring emergency procedures mine will be carried out on 2nd October.
Hi
All the best. It will soon be over.
In my case the Dr's biopsy was sent before Christmas. Late November I think. I had a think developing on my finger so I asked the skin specialist about it.
I also had him check out my spot bleeding on nose. He sent upstairs EAR, NOSE and THROAT. Without telling me the result of the biopsy, an appointment was made. This was before anti-co.agulant.
I attended, sat in a dentist chair and he proceeded. Said it would have cost $4000 privately and with each piece taken it was examined until area edges were clear.
I can remember me getting the bus to city 2 kms.
I caught the city bus back to hospital and then onto the 2.30pm free hospital bus home.
It bled early evening and I supplied pressure until it stopped. It means the missing bits were cleansing themselves.
Better out than growing because fear of getting into sinuses.
I can hardly notice the area. I patiently waited for the "all clear". Which I got.
I couldn't believe such a pinhole bleeding lesion was so serious.
You could take paracetamol 500g 1 or 2 before your appointment. with lots of water.Wear colour and older top.
I'll be thinking of you because I fly out on 7th October and you will be really and truly on the road to healing then.

Thanks Joy. I was thinking navy top in case some bleeding. Where are you flying to?
Hi
First plane trip out - to JAPAN. Staying 4 nites TOYKO, OSAKA and KYOTO.
I keep learning - discovering different cultures, foods, dance, people, sights and architecture.
I had Tasmania lined up March 2021 but AirNZ cancelled the direct flight from Auckland - Hobart. Direct less to go wrong. In 2019 I missed flight from Frankfurt to Singapore. One walks MILES to get to your next flight. Now I ask for support. I ran out of steam (getting over flu type virus from 2 Aussie ladies in opposite cabin.) Probably through the air conditioning.
I'm going for a relaxing time.
In Tokyo I see the TOWER.
You take care and reward yourself with something. I'm hooked on the MAGNUM GREEN Dairy-Free Almond Treat. 3 in a packet. Special just $6.99.
Just back from Table Tennis. This a new type of exercise. A great workout.

What an interesting adventure you're going to have! Glad you're finally going to Japan. Air con a pain. I shall think of you too as you set off on your travels!I'm reading this at 7am in a rather chilly room but your post is uplifting.
