Had cardiac abliation almost 3 months ago. EP will have me wear a two week monitor in about three weeks. Is that normal? Also do they do post nuclear stress tests and when? Only on metropol 50mg twice daily Eliquis and water pill. Thank yiu

Sounds like good management to me. Three months is still early days really.

I had a nuclear stress test a month after my ablation. I went to the ER complaining of chest pain. So they admitted me and gave me the nuclear stress test, which I passed easily. I had previously had a stress echo. But this was my first nuclear stress test. Passing it helped with my post-ablation anxiety about my heart.

What is a nuclear stress test?

On a treadmill. They inject you with a nuclear dye and then take pictures with a 3-D camera while you walk the treadmill. Then they take more pictures the next day at rest. It is supposed to be about 85 percent reliable in terms of identifying heart blockages. I had to get my heart up to 140 bpm before they could inject the dye. I am on beta blockers. It took 16 minutes!

The 2 weeks monitor makes a lot of sense. I had a 7 days monitor which picked up AF during the night on the 4th day.

Hi. I Had ablation 4 months ago in Barts, all went very well. Had 24 hrs monitor 4 weeks later and again after 3 months, apart from a few missed beats all good. I have now come off medications and no further action required. I was wondering if you had any complication as a two week monitor seems quite long ? Good luck to you for the future.

I’ve had 2 ablations - last one was 4 weeks ago. Again EP has asked for a 48 Holter Test just prior to 3 month review.
