Magnesium Citrate Allergy

Reading the praise given to Magnesium supplements I started taking 150 mg tablet to start, and then two tablets a day. After a week I broke out in hives and huge blotches all over my body. I initially blamed it on Strawberries but the next evening at the same time I broke out again. Has anyone had this problem and if so, is another form of Magnesium supplement more tolerant.

I had no other side affects other than hives. I take Bisoprolol and Zarelto.

I suggest you have a very careful look at what the other ingredients in the tablet are. One of those may be the culprit. Also look for a good make which claims to be as 'non-allergic' as possible eg Solgar. I believe in the US one can get tablets/powder with very little 'filler' at all. This could be worth investigating. Magnesium citrate is available in the UK in powder form, but I don't know what other ingredients may be included as I have never had this problem with supplements.
