Just an update .😕

Sorry if this sounds daft but I’ve recently purchased Magnesium citrate after hearing all the good things about this and I’ve got a tub of 100mg tablets it’s saying take 300mg daily preferably with food ...

I’m assuming this is 100mg 3 times a day or at once 😕🙈

Any help greatfully appreciated

I take 250mg tabs daily so all at once I would say.

You can buy most tablets in different strengths. I just choose to buy 250mg ones from Holland and Barrett.

I take a 200 mg capsule once a day. I think if you can manage to take 100 mg 3x daily, that might be better than all at once. I am not be that organized though.

I take 2 x 125mg Magnesium Taurate in the morning - the actual size of the capsules are 850mg which equals 125mg elemental magnesium taurate.

I would take them all at once same as BobD

If you have had any problem with calcium deposits ( kidney stones , etc ) be careful with how much calcium binder is in the tablets - thats why I prefer capsules as they have no added calcium.

It won't matter as the magnesium is well absorbed whatever form or dosage - even from green vegetables where it exists in abundance, of course (being a central constituent of chlorophyll). If you find the citrate form gives you too much laxative effect, simply reduce the dose until you are comfortable or move to a form that has less magnesium in it such as taurate or stearate. Your body won't be short of magnesium since an average diet has it a-plenty but a little extra won't hurt and, for a few people, they feel it has a useful effect.

I'd see how you go. If you have any kind of constipation, then magnesium salts are first class for that. You'll know if you're taking more than your body can absorb if you are loose at all "down there"! In that case just lower the dose. It isn't a drug as such and is quite safe with any excess being excreted - hence the effect it can have!

If you aren't used to taking magnesium citrate I'd start building up n them ie 100mg one day, 200mg the next day (possibly a few hours apart and then the 300mg the next day - again spaced out. If you are OK with this dosage then you can decide whether its more convenient to take all of them at once or to split up the dose - I used to take two in the morning and one at night. I also have taken all at the same time (larger dosage tablets) with no problem. Magnesium citrate is great but can cause stomach cramps and 'the runs' if you have too much or are not used to them so just ease yourself into them. Best of luck.

Thanks guys much appreciated 😎

I take magnesium taurate 300mg a day but space it out in 3 doses of 100mg . If you are not used to a magnesium supplement taking the 300mg all at once might give you the runs.
