Hi,

I wonder if somebody has had a similar problem.I had a cardioversion about 2 years ago and with amiodrone, bisoprolol,Ramipril and apaxiban I have been in sinus rythm.I tried to come off amiodrone earlier this year and after 2-3 weeks I then had a massive scarey AF attack.I went straight back on amiodrone and things calmed down after a couple of days. From time to time I have had this sharp pain in left side of chest under armpit but it was very occasional like a sharp cramping pain but would only last a split second. But still made me jump.2 weeks ago I had a heavy meal and I had a very dull sensation in middle of chest.couoled with weird heart beats I went to go did blood test as I thought I might have had a heart attack the blood tests were clear. Then around the same time I started to get this weird stabbing pain in left side under armpit but only a few times then it went away as I was scared I went to A&E Monday perfect blood pressure and ecg and they checked bloods again which were clear.Im now getting that strange Quick stabbing pain on and off and more regular like every 1/2 hour,I’m at a loss as what todo and am trying to get urgent app with cardiac debit if anyone can shed some light I would be very great full as it’s extremely scarey ?

Any chest pain needs to be investigate which of course you are trying to do. It does seem that it is unlikely to be cardiac given the negative tests which you have had but to a non medical bod like me who knows a little about a lot the fact that you have been on Amiodarone for this long worries me. It is not a drug which is normally given long term and can cause all sorts of problem including lung issues . I wonder if you should not ask the doctors about possible lung problems as a result. You also mention a large meal and this may also indicate digestive issues which can produce some really unpleasant pains from time to time. Do press your doctor and not just your cardiologist.

I had something remotely similar every now and then when I was on flecainide - but more like the most insane pins and needles - also under my armpits, but a little wider spread.

At the time i assumed it was the flecainide and the fact that I haven't experienced that for a while (I have been off flec since Feb) makes me think it was the flec.

I can't give advice, all i can do is share that info.

Chest pains, palpitations, thumping in the chest, feeling my heart and everyting in that area was in constant motion during an A Fib episode. Yes, I had it all while on Flecainide. It was so commonplace i became immune to it and practically ceased to be alarmed in the end. Had an ablation 10 months ago. All motion and commotion has stopped, and normality, indeed a feeling of calmhas returned for now at any rate, and long may it last!!

Hi FM yes I’m seriously considering an ablation but I really don’t want multiple ablutions from what I’ve read they either don’t last very long or you have to have multiples.Im skeptical but thanks for your replies just need to get the angina sorted out for now just really don’t need another condition. But I really think a lot of it was stress not nice though like 50 mini heart attack’s and very scarey !

Hi Jonathon,

Thanks for your reply i spoke to a push dr yesterday and she said I have all the symptoms of angina.Ive had a bereavement in the family bags of stress and I’ve been drinking to much and found to much gardening etc.I think all of this coupled with being a tad overweight. So good diet cut smoking out and small amounts of exercise should put be in a better place.I did by GTN spray over the counter. And some aspirin which really helped calm things down.

Were you advised to take aspirin? Just thinking you are already taking Apixaban and although some people have medical reasons for taking both it isn't something I would do without a firm diagnosis and good reason.

Hi Bag,

Yes it is a bit risky.I have only taken a small amount over 2 days and with the GTN spray it’s calmed everything down.I am seeing dr Monday so will get the right meds arranged. Thanks for your reply !
