Knitting for Inner calm

Last week's Waitrose News contained an article recommending Knitting for mindfulness. Apparently the repetitive action of knit one purl one and the use of both hands helps engage and calm both sides of the brain.

I am an avid "crafter" and also belong to a Knitters and Natters group and was very pleased to read that my hobbies help me to be calm. The article didn't say anything about car engines but that must also use both hands!!

Any other AFers know of calming activities?

Great but race car engines do bite back sometimes so not always helpful especially in the design phase.l.

When I was younger and fitter (before arthritis) I found skiing very calming as it is impossible to worry about or think of anything else when you are going down hill with no brakes on a couple of planks.

I enjoy lots of crafts too, crochet badly ,knit quite well, also gardening, not as much as I used to but fresh air and pottering.! Carry on Knitting! I also heard these kind of crafts are good for blood pressure reduction as well.
