Dry mouth?

I recently began to experience very dry mouth. I believe it is due to medications I was taking in the past. It has effected the health of my teeth. I used to have really nice, white teeth. But these past few months they have begun to look yellow and slightly transparent. I drink plenty of water, so I don't believe I am dehydrated.

Are there any natural remedies for this? I've tried using mouthwashes and gum designed for dry mouth. But it doesn't help much.

My husband began to get dry mouth when he developed Type 2 diabetes. I am not a doctor but it would be worth it and easy to get a test via your GP and rule this out.

I only took flecenaide and atavin for a few weeks. Yet it seems to have caused real damage.

I am pretty sure you can buy a special lubricant for your mouth, this was suggests to me when I had dry mouth from CPAP but a humidifier corrected it so I didn’t need it in the end.

Google ‘oral moisturisers’ or ‘artificial saliva’ for examples.

I have a very dry mouth every night and have come to the conclusion that with age, I now sleep with my mouth open! I have a glass of water by my bed to take a mouthful if needed.

Hi Irene, it's slightly more than just dry, it actually feels like that suction tube that you get at the dentist has been in your mouth while your walking across a desert! Hence a cycle of drinking loads of water accompanied by visits to the loo begin. I think sleeping more than 2hrs at once is just a thing of the past now! 😀

Angie, I do know what you mean. My tongue is stiff and totally dry when I wake up! Maybe it is more than sleeping with my mouth open, I just assumed it was that.

See your doctor to make sure it is not diabetes.

I had a dry mouth for ages and a horrid taste at night. I take flecanide bisoprolol and other un AF related meds. It turned ouf to be Thrush and once it was treated the problem resolved. Since taking flecanide my white blood cell count has a tendency to be on the low side. It seems this can be as a resulf of long term flecanide usse.I think that may be whg I got the thrush. X
