High Blood sugar after ablation

Hi every one

Just got my ablation done yesterday thankfully and hope it will work well

however as i have pots my base line heart rate bet 100 to 120 since!

For the last few days before the ablation my b sugar between 4.2to 5.6

I am not diabetic

Immediately after the ablation my blood sugar was 7.5 and continue to rise my fast b sugar 12 hrs after 8.2

any one with same experience after the ablation??

It might be medications causing this?

I am not on any meds other than anticoagulant .

Lack of exercise can also be a cause. Once you begin to resume normal activity, it should also normalize insulin levels. Lack of sleep can also mess up insulin resistance.

Do you have a history of diabetes in your family? Sometimes in the hospital people are given steriods in their IV for various reasons. Steroids elevate peoples blood sugars, especially if one is " borderline" diabetic.

No I dont and I am not on steroid. !!not sure what they gave me during general anasthasia though!

I was Pre diabetic before ablation but with weight loss and diet I got back to normal

I am now two months post ablation and my blood sugar is up to almost diabetic levels

When I had palpitations my blood sugar used to rise and I think this is my body saying it is still under stress post surgery but it is depressing after working so hard to reduce it

I am hoping that a bit more exercise will fix it as I did take things very easy after the op

They decided to do Glucose tolerance test for me and will see.

I hope your blood sugar will settle and you ll enjoy your a fib free life

My blood sugar was also a bit high for the first time in my life. It went back to normal after I stopped the beta blocker.
