Hi All, I had a Cryoablation just over two weeks ago and feel tired which is unusual for me plus I feel like I have a chesty cough so when I breath in I feel like I want to cough, can I ask if this is normal ? I'm taking Bisoprolol , 50mg Flecanide twice a day and Riveroxiban. Many thanks.

Feeling less energy than you used to during healing might be normal but it sounds more than that so I would get it checked out by your doctor for any possible after ablation complications.
If you can - check your sats.
It could also be an infection or a virus.
Rest up and drink plenty of fluids and book an appointment with your doctor.
Coughing seems to be a common problem after ablation. I coughed so much that I thought that it would trigger AF. If I remember correctly it stopped after a few weeks.
I believe there are quite a few causes of cough after ablation. Check X-ray will pick up two of the more important, phrenic nerve injury PNI and pneumothorax. Your GP will know. Early check up advised.
Bisoprolol is notorious for causing tiredness, how much are you on?
Hi Oyster, thanks for your comments and we'll noted, will check with my GP. I'm on 2.5 mg Bisoprolol per day I guess is a low amount but seems to have a big effect on me, I'm 55 yrs old and quite active with running, cycling and gym 3/4 times a week so quite surprised I'm so tierd post op.
An ablation is a major procedure. It doesn't matter how fit you were before, you've just gone 10 rounds with whoever the heavyweight boxing chamption is nowadays. Just rest, rest and more rest and things will get MUCH better.
I felt tired for the first few weeks, having a toddler doesn't help but it felt more than normal. Last week was getting restless so started using the turbo trainer and the exercise has made me feel more lively.
Resting versus exercise is a balance, not everyone is the same.
We're you on the bisoprolol prior to the ablation? It put me to sleep in 40 minutes, not a little tired!. However if you were on it previously with no problems it is probably not that.
I have had two ablation- the cryoablation I had did not make me tired and I had no pain or even discomfort after the day I had it done. The rf ablation I had a week ago made me quite tired and I still feel discomfort although it has reduced over the week.
I did not develop a cough but I did occasionally have sort of gasp for air unexpectedly for what appeared to no reason. That has also reduced over the week.( in fact probably stopped its not happened today so far)
Could it be you just have picked up a bug? It's easy to think everything is the a fib when you are watching for the next problem!
Thanks for your helpful comments. I wasn't taking Bisoprolol before so could be the reason so tired as you explained and what happened with you. I know what you mean about blaming everything on the Ablation but am sure the cough type symptoms are from the op ? Will get it checked out.
Ask if you had TOE as they can cause a cough - usually a dry, irritating cough. Getting the words to describe symptoms accurate can help diagnosis.
I did a week on the bisoprolol without improving. My GP then tried me on another beta blocker called atenonol which still did not suit me so we gave up on betablockers and went to calcium channel blockers . However I mention this as although I was still tired on the atenonol it was considerably less so. I was going to work and doing a 5 hour day and going home early, but I had a one hour plus commute each way which I did not wish to try too tired for obvious reasons. It sounds as if you are perhaps not as sensitive to the bisoprolol as I was so just maybe the atentonol would not cause you a problem?? Just so something you could discuss with your doctor if the tiredness does not improve.
Best wishes
Hi. Excuse my ignorance but what is TOE ?
I was tired for weeks following the ablation, and 3 months plus before I could exercise at the level I did previously.
I think the 2 week recovery stated by doctors should be taken with a pinch of salt
Thanks for your advise.
