I’m 2weeks post ablation and I’m on flecanide 100 twice a day and metaprolol 25 twice a day plus zarelto 20 once daily. I am experiencing some bloating and gas and wondering if any of you has this from the drugs, I’m also on nexium

I think it is from the ablation, that is why they prescribe nexium or similar afterwards to protect your oesophagus as the burning can be quite close. Your stomach may be irritated or the nexium itself may be causing problems, I had to stop Lansaprazole because of diarrhoea! If you have worsening problems it would be best to contact the Arrhythmia nurse if possible.

Thanks Buffafly

Medications can have some quite pernickety requirements! I don't know about metaprolol or nexium.

All the accompanying leaflets should be helpful.

The instructions for Flecainide when I took it were that it should be taken on an empty stomach or an hour before food. Stops you snacking! I tried 11am and 11pm but found it better to take it when I first woke and then wait for breakfast with the second dose at about 6pm. Depends when you like to eat.

On the other hand Xarelto should be taken with a meal and ideally, I believe, one that has something creamy, oily or buttery. Not before food or after food but with food. I take it with my evening meal. Some take it in the morning.

An excuse to have cream with your porridge!

Have a chat with your pharmacist perhaps.
