I’ve not heard of it before but everyone reacts very differently. When do the cramps start - soon after taking your meds? Do you take with food and is it a stomach or muscle issue do you think? Could be so many things and maybe a process of elimination to know what is the cause. Maybe you should ask your doctor.

Thanks for your courteous response.Take as directed, evening with a meal. It's not a muscle issue. So will try a process of elimination and chat with my GP.

I would be surprised. "Butterflies" (palpitations) are, I suspect, usually from the heart, even though they feel to be from the stomach. My left lower rib area is often uncomfortable when I have arrhythmias, making me think my gastric troubles cause my heart troubles - but I have concluded it's likely the other way round.

Thanks for your considered thoughts. My recent comprehensive annual cardiovascular, including PM, examination confirmed everything ok. Through things I cannot control I have a lot of stress in my life. The purpose behind my initial post was to be told the problem is unlikely to be Zarelto.

Thanks again.

Bad luck. Life can be so very difficult at times. I’m anxiety prone and yet through some of the most extreme stresses life can throw at a person, I have been fine. Isn’t life strange?

I was on Xarelto for 6 years. Shortly after I started it I started getting bouts of gastritis, several at times. This developed into chronic gastritis with frequent flare ups of severe episodes. I was put on increasingly high doses of PPIs to counteract the gastritis.18 months ago I had a TIA and my anticoagulant was changed to Apixaban. Within a couple of weeks the gastritis had completely gone and has not returned.

I am now trying to come off the PPIs, which isn't easy, has to be done very gradually.

My experience shows that Xarelto can cause stomach issues, so might be the cause of your symptoms.

I was on a higher does than you, 20 mg, so that might be why I got more severe effects.

Might be worth having a conversation with your GF about it.
