I gather it only makes sense if you have significant additional cardiac problems - if you only have lone PAF then all u need is minimally invasive ablation, is that right?

By Hybrid, do you mean surgically scarring the outside of the heart combined with an RF ablation? It's quite heavy duty and puts all your eggs in one basket.

Hi Terence - yes I had hybrid ablation - have posted on what happened, see previous posts. And I found lots of helpful info from Lastec1 posts. If you click on his or my name it will take you to all our posts. Also johnMiosh had the Hybrid and wrote a detailed account.

And hope all goes well with your procedures...pretty amazing.

Hi Terence. I assume you have now seen my posts; it is 3 months since the second part of the ablation, but I am slightly overdue in posting an update.

I had no other cardiac issues other than persistent AF. I was offered the hybrid version as part of a clinical trial to assess the difference in outcome between the hybrid and two endocardial ablations.

All seems good at the moment, EP who did the RF ablation was very happy with the result, and the cardio supervising the trial was happy with the overall prognosis.

Hi john, having a ct scan on Friday and then the powers that be will decide if I am suitable for a hybrid ablation. Very pleased that you are doing well. Please keep me up to date with your progress. Terry
