Not allowed mine at the moment due to heavy dose of antibiotics I’m on for the next few weeks as a result of the septicaemia I got in hospital last year

I,ve been a regular flu vac. user for over 20 years , it seems that at times if you get the vaccine too early it looses its efficiency before the flu season slows down.

Been a lot of bad flu cases in Australia this year with those who have had the vaccine.

I usually wait to get the flu shot near the end of October, for the reason you mentioned. If there was a lot of flu in the area earlier than that, I'd get it sooner, but it seems that the flu doesn't usually fire up until after October.

Found this that might be of interest:

Influenza (inactivated) vaccine

Some people should not get this vaccine.

Tell the person who is giving you the vaccine:

If you have any severe, life-threatening allergies.

If you ever had a life-threatening allergic reaction after a dose of flu vaccine, or have a severe allergy to any part of this vaccine, you may be advised not to get vaccinated. Most, but not all, types of flu vaccine contain a small amount of egg protein.

If you ever had Guillain-Barré Syndrome (also called GBS).

Some people with a history of GBS should not get this vaccine. This should be discussed with your doctor.

If you are not feeling well.

It is usually okay to get flu vaccine when you have a mild illness, but you might be asked to come back when you feel better.

This information was taken directly from the Inactivated Influenza VIS

I couldn't give you a sensible answers - except my body just says NO! I've had the Pneumonia vac - which for me is important - I suppose I'm just not convinced of it's efficacy?

Most docs disagree that the flu shot makes you sick; that illness right after the injection is just a coincidence.

I dont believe in coincidences. Im sorry to say but i will never be getting another vacine no matter the dangers i just do not believe in them im all for NATURAL remedies as that is what i look for and believe in we no absolutes nothing about what goes into our bodies that we ALLOW via these "medicines" call me crazy but i refuse it and have benefited so namaste yo all and if it works for you congrats happy dor yall

I had mine Friday at my chemist and have it every year as i am a asthma and diabetic sufferer, and normally come down with chest infections in the winter. Better to be safe than sorry :-)

Had mine last week but not sure why as I did last year and caught flu! 😁

It's best to cover some strains than none!

Boots the chemist are really efficient- no queues. Our GP surgery flu vaccination sessions are chaotic.

Yes, Boots were very good. You can't get near the surgery car park this time of year!

Last year our GP flu clinic waiting area was so overcrowded and airless that I was afraid of catching a bug whilst waiting for my jab. Dettol handwipes to the ready!

in reply to Finvola

Last year I got out of my car went in surgery rolled up sleeve out and in car less than five mins. When I administered had to stay with patient in house for 15 mins.

Had mine last week along with the pneumonia shot. Couldn't move my pneumonia arm for a few days! Owwwee!! 😬. But all protected now. Did feel rubbish for about 4 hours, two days after the jabs. All good now.

No, I had one last year and had the worst dose of flu ever in my life. Also had odd reaction to the injection....so no more.
