I assumed the calceos is for the osteoporosis, but GP inisists its for the heart??
I would rather get her off the calceos and on to a better D3 in the morning and K2 with dinner, plus more magnesium rather than calcium, she is reluctant to listen to me rather than the GP, even though I am using the advice of Sarah Myhill on her pages
Can anyone offer any advice on treating arthritis / osteoporosis for someone with AF or on the calceos
Thanks
A concerned daughter

Well unfortunately her "medically trained" GP is of no use whatsoever, and he is the only one in te practice that she can understand. I have no option but to advocate for my mothers health.
If anyone has any relevant experience, could they please share or pm me??
I have osteopenia (precursor to osteoporosis) and was originally prescribed Calceos, as well as alendronic acid. I have long stopped taking the alendronic acid as one only takes that for about 5 years but I still take a calcium carbonate/colecalciferol tablet (Calcichew-D3 Forte) on the recommendation of my GP**
I had not been diagnosed with AF at the time when Calceos was prescribed for me and whilst we are not medically trained here I find it hard to understand why your mother is being told that the Calceos is for her heart. When I had a medicines review recently and was prescribed Calichew by my relatively new (to me) GP I was quite clear that this medication was for my osteopenia.
Maybe if the GP is not a whole lot of help, then your Mum's pharmacist might be?
** Edited to say that when I stopped taking the alendronic acid I also stopped taking Calceos, but at the recent medications review already mentioned I asked whether I should still be taking Calceos (or similar) and was prescribed the aforementioned Calcichew-D3. The point remains that this was all in the context of osteopenia and NOT my AF.
Further to my other post ..... the helpline nurses of the National Osteoporosis Society are *very* helpful and well-informed as I know from personal experience. You might like to contact them in relation to your Mum's medication and her osteoporosis.
