Ectopics
They do show up. The kardia might show it as Af but the doctor would tell you. I had this problem just 2 weeks ago. Intense ectopics which was read as Af. But the doctor put me right. I suppose if you want to read it yourself you'll have to be able to read ECG which I don't .

It's a pity that no way to show pictures in the post. But anyway the aFib has following hallmarks:
1. P wawe disappears from the ECG strip
2. The R distances are varying
3. Heart rate frequency is elevated, usually very strongly. Sometimes it is so high, that prevents the evalution (the R waves are so close each to other, that the cardiologist can't see what happens between two R waves).
4. Between the two R waves you can see a series of short waves so called f (fibrillation waves) waves. Basically the baseline of the ECG is trembling.
WARNING ! It is a good thing and not excleded that you can learn evalaute your ECG for obvious cases, BUT anyhow due the the dubious cases the final diagnosis is the cardiologist's competency.

I have in the past sent in a reading to Kardia to be read by a doctor. I think it cost £5 and was worth it at the time for peace of mind. There was an option on the Kardia screen to do this, not sure if it still possible, I haven't looked lately.
Yes, ectopics show up. In my layman's description of my ectopics on Kardia: PAC's - atrial ectopics look similar to a normal qrs, PVC's - ventricular ectopics are more malformed, wider and appear 'below the line'.
In both cases you will notice the ectopic is close to the preceding beat, with a compensatory pause before the following beat.
Here are two posts of mine from some time back where I showed a screen print of atrial and ventricular ectopics and received great help from the forum.

Hope this helps.
They do show up if you know what you are looking for. It is my experience that if there are a lot or a mixture of PACs and PVCs it shows as unclassified. I then either send it to my E.P. or to be read by the Kardia cardiology service. If my G.P. sees it he always reads it as AF but it usually isnt! X
I found that my ectopics (there are different sorts that you may catch on your K); Couplets, Bigeminies, Triplets etc were easily caught on it. So discovered that I had ectopic burden and not anxiety - they will rarely do anything unless it's this but there is loads of advice re: different things you can take to minimise or illiminate altogether to be found HERE .... so all the best with them - horrible things !!!
Thanks everyone
