We see a lots of posts about the negative aspects that may or may not be attributed to the medication we have to take so I would like to add something positive
I am on a beta blocker called Nebivolol and the anticoagulant Apixaban for PAF and feel more alert and energetic than I have done in a long time. I suspect this may be due to the Nebivolol reducing my high blood pressure which had recently increased to a high level with the frequency of PAV episodes. I also feel more calm and not so panicky all the time which could be due to the BBs blocking adrenaline
I am also free from episodes at the moment which I am aware may well be temporary so I am enjoying feeling well and taking full advantage of it by doing as much as I can in the house and garden . Tomorrow I may not feel so well but I will have a tidy house and garden to look at

Hi Doodle, it's lovely to read your positive post, so thank you for that, and yes it certainly makes a nice change to read how drugs have helped you to feel better.
Hmm - perhaps a few more posts like this, where drugs have really helped make someone feel better, would be nice to read as we do tend to write on this forum mostly when things aren't going right.
Jean I guess if 'all is well' there isn't usually much to say.
I found the prospect of taking medication possibly for life very daunting on top of the confirmation of something I had suspected for a long time but ignored , that I had PAF
I read about all the horrible side effects of medication and was pleasantly surprised to find I was still in one piece after taking it.
So just a word for those who find themselves in a similar position, we are all different and taking medication doesn't always have a negative effect.
Yes, if the pills for AF make you feel so much better then it's good to hear that. All we generally hear is about pills not agreeing with people. If you've just been prescribed some tablets and you've read on here that they made someone else feel really well it just sets you to thinking more positively that the tablets are going to do the same for you. Love your post.
I agree with your philosophy and try to see how positive life can be with the help of my drugs for AF (Bisoprolol and Flecainide) and Apixaban. I've had no AF in three years and I fill every second of every day, happy that I am free of the horrible thing at the moment.
Being diagnosed with AF stopped me taking health and life for granted, as well as forcing me to follow a healthier lifestyle. Rather like the saying 'stop and smell the roses'.
Long may things continue well for you - I have two mantras for good and not so good days:
Good days - today I can . . . . insert massive list of things to do!
Good point Doodle, I would like to add that feeling bad about swallowing some powerful drug, I think, can affect your digestion (via the Vagus Nerve if you have an active one like me) and lead to other issues. I have finally come around to your way of thinking and focussing on just one day at a time, key factors I believe in recent improvements for me.
I would encourage all here to keep trying things one at a time, over 3 years I am finally getting back to feeling normal...it's great!
I have to agree. I had an ablation 7 weeks ago and put on bisoprolol 2.5 I now use 1.25 as a pip and for me at the moment it seems like a magic pill. It calms everything and I am convinced it prevents af for me as well as reducing hr.
