On Plavix had a stroke

Hi y'all, I'm the new person here and I just found out I had a stroke sometime within the last year while being on Plavix 75 mg 1x day for heart attack I had 2 years ago plus stents put in. Is this even possible? I mean granted I have had some weakness on my left side but nothing to write home about. Can some please tell me if they have experienced this or heard of this because I am just baffled. Thank you..

Plavix is not an anticoagulant like warfarin or one of the new oral anticoagulants so yes it is possible, Even people who are anticoagulated occasionally have strokes as there is no guarantee although the risk is greatly reduced.

Since this is an atrial fibrillation forum I assume that you have AF. otherwise maybe best to look up stroke in Health Unlocked. If you do have AF then you should have been assessed for stroke risk and anticoagulated accordingly.

How was the stroke diagnosed? This sounds like a TIA and not a full stroke.

Let me start by saying thank you for replying to my post. I'm sorry it to so long to get get back to you. I had a lot to digest today. We'll come to find out I Didn't have a stroke after all. I got the results of my MRI back myself and is says quote ( Prior Traumatic Brain Injury with Focal Atrophy of the left Occipital Love , as could be expected from a Coup/Counter-Coup Type injury ) . So now I go see the neurologist to find out what the extent of injury is and how to deal. I now I have a lot of face numbing and motor skills problem going on as well as some eye problem. So if anyone has heard of this please HELP ME. I'm scared to death. Thanks

Oh and to reply to other person I'm new here so sorry if I posted in wrong spot. I didn't know. I will look better next time

I recall from my stroke that damage to the occipital lobe affects your eyesight and sometimes perception. Damage to the left lobe would affect vision on the right hand side and vice versa. In my case I cannot see on the right hand side after a stroke in the left lobe. Ask your neurologist about support. If you drive, you may need to take an eye test to determine if you have 120 degree horizontal vision and no significant issues in the central area. Take your time, you will go through a range of emotions, but the positive thing is that you can communicate and you're here talking about it. Come back and chat when you need to.

Thank you so much John-boy. Your the only one I think right now that " gets it ! " I'm so confused about all this. I've had 3 doctors in 2 weeks tell me 3 different things . Now their all fighting over who's right the MRI radiologist or the cat scan radiologist. I had 2 different results in 1 week on both but one thing they all agree one this was not their 1 year ago or 1 month ago when I had scans. So I'm kinda like just stuck dealing with military navy doctors till they figure it out. I can't get referred out I tried. I don't know what to do. But thank you for listening. I will figure it out if it kills me..No literally speaking. Lol Thanks again

The MRI scan should be able to resolve finer detail than the CT scan, but in either case it's down to the interpretation. I can empathise with the confusion over the different diagnoses. I was told in hospital; "we don't know what you've got and we're running out of drugs to treat it". It wasn't until I was admitted for the third time with the same condition as previously, that my scans were examined by the Professor heading up the specialist centre who diagnosed the condition correctly. The previous medication hadn't worked as they were treating me for the wrong condition!

You're going to have some difficulty making your voice heard in the military - I was a civilian contractor embedded in the UK MoD for nearly ten years - but you need to get clinicians higher up the chain of command to look at your case.
