I don't think anyone here can answer that question based on what you posted. But it may simply be the difference in the amount of calories you're taking in now, versus before the stroke. Some online research with a good diet app like "MyFitnessPal" could help with the numbers as would a good dietician.

But given your medical history, definitely bring this up with your doctor and they will probably want to run some labs to make sure that the cause of the weight loss isn't something else

When I lost a lot of weight my GP took a blood sample and it turned out I had Coeliac disease......more common than you think. I am not a doc. this is just based upon my own experience.

Good morning....it sounds as though your eating habits have really changed and you mentioned about sometimes not eating and cutting things like sugars. In missing meals or not eating regularly you would lose weight. Might be an idea to see your doctor or just to make sure nothing else medically is going on. He might give you some nutrition drinks to help you build you up again or get someone to talk to you about you diet to make recommendations for you but I definitely think it would be a good idea to make an appointment just to get checked out. X

After my heart attack I changed my diet as suggested, cutting out cakes and biscuits, pies etc which my husband had insisted on. I cut right down on red meat and vastly increased veggies. We had never eaten ready meals or take aways. 6 months later when I got out my summer skirts, they all fell off. Even my GP commented on my 2 stone weight loss and ran cancer tests ( negative of course). It looks as if you've done something similar but your w eight loss is much quicker and you sound not to be eating properly. YOu need t o force yourself to have at least one good meal a day. Did you actually need to lose weight? I would suggest that with such a big loss you need to speak to your GP.

Depending on what weight you were prior (overweight/ obese, for example). If normal and now underweight consider a referral to a “functional” dietitian and discuss going on “Ensure”. It’s a protein drink as for sure you (like me) lost muscle mass. It’s at a dangerous stage if you just don’t want to eat.

In the UK we have community dietitians that see people with medical conditions who need practical dietetics support. The GP can refer.

It’s “normal” to lose weight if your food intake is reduced and your appetite is low. Whether that’s good for your health is another matter. It might be a good idea to contact your GP who can prescribe nourishment drinks if appropriate. You could also ask for an appointment with a community dietitian who can advise you on what you can do to increase your calorie intake without too much bulk, and taking any other health considerations into account that may be relevant for you. Weight loss is not just about the number on a scale. You need to protect yourself against the loss of muscle and bone mass.
