Groin pains post ablation

Almost six weeks post ablation and have today started getting pains near the incision site at the top of my leg groin area at the same point where there is still a tender spot. The pain when it happens is strong enough to stop me in my tracks. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi Namabrodie.....hopefully nothing to worry about but well worth a check to make sure there are no signs of any infection.....did they provide you with a contact number? If not, could you contact your consultants secretary as she may advise your best route to get the area properly checked......best of luck...

Thank you for your answer. I have a appointment this Friday. Hopefully they will know why this is happening.

A week after my ablation I developed chronic pain in my groin radiating down my leg so bad that I could not walk for a few days. Saw the EP who explained there could be some nerve damage as there is a nerve bundle very close to insertion site and will clear. It cleared completely after about a week. Have a word with your arythmia nurse to put your mind at rest. Best wishes

Yes sadly! I had a massive bleed from there though post op and I was purple bruised from my groin almost to my knee which is crippled with Arthritis whenever my movement is restricted.

On one of my ablation posts there's a rather lovely picture of just how bad it was, I did go and get it checked to make sure there wasn't a problem with a hard lump under the puncture site and it took about 6 weeks to settle as I recall.

I'd certainly see your GP and get his opinion as to why you are getting this pain. You could also ring the hospital where you had your ablation and ask to speak to the AF nurse.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thank you everybody. I haven't had any pain today but haven't been on my feet as much. Still very tender and also a little numb in a couple of areas. I'm due to see my GP on Friday as a follow up to blood pressure checks over the last month (had been a bit on the low side)so will see what he thinks and let you know.

Did your doctor say why this is happening?

I have seen my GP today and is very happy with my blood pressure and pulse all very normal. I'm still getting occasional ectopics and strange little sharp pains in the heart but nothing that's too much of a problem. All the meds I am now taking is rivaroxoban once a day! He wasn't concerned about the groin pain says it's to do with the heaumatoma and it will take time. Six weeks in and looking good 🤞

I had a Heart Ablation in Jan 2009. I still get pain in my groin a few times a week that stops me in my tracks but subsides very quickly. More a severe Annoyance that anything.

I also have pain and burning in groin. I put ice packs when it burns. This helps some.

I called my EP and was told they couldn’t help me and to go to the ER .

I had abalation august last year 2019. Have very painful groin when after seating, even have to limp until pain goes. Have mentioned this twice and is just ignored. Do not know who would do anything about this .

Do you think the catheter cause damage to veins or arteries?
