Hi, think I may have misspelt . Just wondering if feet swelling is just a side effect of Amlpodene? Has any one managed to swap and get something better? I cant get my shoes on by evening and I'm going on my hols soon. Can I just stop taking them and restart when I get back? Thankyou.
Amlopedene feet swelling.: Hi, think I... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Amlopedene feet swelling.
Amlodopine is a calcium channel blocker and they are know to cause fluid retention which presents as swollen ankles in some people. I can't take calcium channel blockers of any kind for that reason. I would never recommend that you stop taking drugs of any kind without discussing with your doctor. Why are you taking it? Blood pressure or another reason? In any case you have it for a reason.
Yes, I was prescribed this for high blood pressure last year and one of the many side effects was swollen feet and ankles. It also caused constant palpitations (Not AF related). Have a chat with your GP about a change of medication.
I was on amlodipine humongous swelling in my legs. Had to spend the whole winter in flip flops going to work in the snow. It became unbearable but persevered until I could hardly bend my ankles. Eventually went to G.P who immediately took me off it and upped another med I was taking. Swelling went almost straight away. Go to Doc
Take care
