Atrial tachycardia is a fast but regular beat whilst atrial fibrillation is an irregular irregular beat. Totally different animals and look quite different on an ECG.
But, as I understand it, tachycardia which is fast and regular which does not stop after a few hours or less can lead to Atrial fibrillation.
Never has for me. I was once in Atrial tachycardia at 140 for about ten days post my third ablation. Since I was away in France at the time I just got on with it until return and then had DCCV. . No AF came out of it. Had several similar since with no AF.
Sure. flutter can lead to AF . It is a matter of from where the tachy is origination.
