I understand you need to have annual blood tests done if you are taking Apixaban. I've now been on it for over a year and have not heard from my GP surgery, so I'm going to raise the issue.
So I'm well-armed, can I ask what tests you are having done please as I get mixed message when I Google it.
I normally arrange my annual test via my GP, in which case it was full bloods - the works. This year I arranged through the nurse and she told me it was usually kidney function only, but also did liver function at my request.
My GP does the full works once a year at least for kidney and liver function re. Apixaban. He also includes thyroid blood tests,as I have a complex thyroid issue, and heamaglobin tests.
Hi I was called for a liver and kidney function test after 6 months of being on apixaban. I believe it is kidney function that they need to keep on top of as reduced function would leave too much apixaban in your body although I think it has to be quite drastically reduced to make a difference. X
Ah that's good and agrees with what they've told me today. I'll be having my liver and kidney test in the next few weeks.
