Leaving off Apixaban

Yes, several times, no problems. I have to stop Apixaban for 2 days prior and 3 days following a procedure, I just checked with my cardiologist and because my AF burden is now very low they believe I would be very low risk to stop for up to 6 days.
Any procedure where there is a higher risk of significant bleeding requires a risk assessment - usually anaesthetist and or cardiologist.
I was told to stop my apixaban 48 hours before major surgery that was two hours long. This is to avoid the risk of a spinal hematoma since I was having spinal anesthesia and to stem excessive bleeding with major surgery. Apixaban resumed the next day after. I was more worried about a potential spinal hematoma if apixaban not cleared out. I was fine afterwards, no problems at all and back on the apixaban.
Very common. Just insure the doctors coordinate with each other.
Hi
Yes but 3 x 24hr days.
Usually restart 2 days after op.
2 operations same.
But if they feel something is put in with. the anaesthetist.
And I'm on PRADAXA 110 x twice a day.
My MS friend disagnosed many years ran out of her pills/ or forgot to take them on break.
She had a mini stroke - I don;t know how long but she also had a valve replacement number 2.
Your anaesthetist will advice you. 6 days not taken. 3 before, the day of op, 2 days after - 6 days.
