Did you take as pill in the pocket or have you been told to take both all the time? Reason I ask is because if all the time then Flec needs a beta blocker or channel blocker with it so best to get advice quickly as obviously pulse of 34 is too low

Rosy , I am on 100mg per day Flec with instructions to take an additional 150 in an attack and to take 1.25 bisoporol - I cant tolerate the Bispo daily and have had this issue before with Bisop so I wont do that again ! Pulse now cming back to 52 ish 20 hours in just wonder how much longer to get the Bisop out of system.

From my understanding bisoprosol takes at least 24 hours to get it out of your system if not longer.

Hi mac,

I think it's important to check with your consultant as if Bisop is not suitable you may need a channel blocker this is because if you are on flecanide all the time it can act differently do check please

I cannot tolerate bisoprolol but only take regular low dose flecainide now. Used to take 100mg twice a day without beta blockers but got occasional runs of tachycardia. Is you AF likely to be vagally mediated ( mostly at night, associated with bloating large meals? If so beta blockers don't seem to help.

It is NOT true in all cases that Flecainide absolutely needs a beta blocker. I seem to remember this discussion before, sorry I cannot remember when. It was just before 29 October 2016 if you are looking in previous posts. Most cardiologists seem to prescribe both together, and there are good reasons, but sometimes it is just habit.

It is pretty sure that if you are taking it only as PIP then you can take one or the other, or both, depending on the problem.

Long term use of Flec usually comes with a betablocker. But not necessarily, especially for low doses.

To answer your question. "The plasma elimination half-life is 9 to 12 hours" according to drugs.com/pro/bisoprolol.html which means, your level drops to 1/16 in 28-48 hours.

Thanks very helpful re time span for elimination - have got the afib under control now , but pulse still around 50 so some still in my system. You are of course correct re not always having a BB with Flecanaide that would make it a complete no no for me as I have already been hospitalised due the reaction between bisoporol and Flec - never again.

Not what you're looking for?
