Sick and Tired 5 Weeks after Ablation

Is this normal or just a coincidence? I had my 1st ablation 5 weeks ago. It seems when I have a day that I have the energy to work around the house, full work day, or other day of activity, the next day I am wiped out or have a migraine to sleep off. I am a part-time librarian at our middle school and head back to work next week. I'm concerned that I won't be able to work two consecutive days.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Just because you do not have a giant zip up your chest does not mean your heart hasn't had a good kicking. It will take several months (three to six ) for the healing process to form the scar tissue needed to stop the electrical disturbances so things may be a little shaky and you will lack stamina. Most people learn to pace themselves during this period. You may also still be on some drugs which won't help so please don't be downhearted.

BobD Thank you for that encouragement! I feel better knowing that this is to be expected. I just put it together yesterday (after a day trying to sleep off a migraine) that it is always after a pretty busy day. I agree; I am going to have to figure out a way to pace myself and still get my regular routine accomplished.

Also sounds like that younger overdoing it on one day and then your body is not allowing you to do much the next one.

PeterWh I think you are exactly right! Now the trick is for me to try and figure out how to keep from overdoing when I feel like I am just doing what I've always done. I think pacing (as BobD suggests) will be the key. Thanks for helping me not feel so wimpy when I cut back some.

One thing could be beneficial is to have a sleep early to mid afternoon for 1 to 2 hours

Great idea! It is 2:30 pm here, and I'm planning on doing just exactly that.

It is also important to remind yourself that by overdoing it you may cause the heart not to heal properly and the ablation to fail. SLOW DOWN a bit and give yourself time to heal.

Good luck 🍀

Wow! I hadn't even thought of that! Thank you for that eye-opener!!! I DO NOT want this to fail. I'm hoping that I am a one-ablation gal. I'm reading these responses to my husband, so he knows, too, why I am pacing/slowing down. This forum is awesome! Thank you Dodie117 !

I am just 2 days post ablation for fib and flutter, and pretty much feel like dirt. I was getting concerned that maybe I was still bleeding b/c the bruising was growing and how dang tired I am. I see here this is all to be expected and am so grateful to read y'all responses to questions. Thank you for easing this old girls ablated heart! :)
