Hi all. Just applied for holiday insurance and typed in AF in full (might be spelling) and they dont recognise the condition. has anyone else had this problem.
Holiday insurance: Hi all. Just applied... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Holiday insurance
Just try arrhythmia. Atrial fibrillation may be subdivision..
Arrythmia works for All Clear and Flexicover. You can't always differentiate between types of AF if I remember rightly but they ask about anticoagulants and medication treatment. Bit annoying as I had cardioversion in 2011 and have a feeling that may bump up the cover cost.
Hi, I got quote online with stay sure that I thought was very fare!!
All Clear insurance is pretty good, i am now with them with a trip to spain next week. I have AF also a pacemaker , heart disease and Angina. All Clear was one of the best quotes around when i checked in April just under £90.00
If you had just put AF they would have thought it was Athletes Foot and covered you for it.
When I start to type paroxysmal into these websites I generally get an af option, ok so long as your af is indeed paroxysmal I suppose. premiums seem to differ quite considerably too!
usually recognised properly- I have just got very cheap( £20) cover for 5 days with Saga- M and S are also good
Try to find an Insurance company that use Mediquote Limited as their advisor. The Insurance company I am currently using is Astrenska which is the trading name of Collinson Insurance Services. Both of the companies mentioned are based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. At first I thought the Mediquote questions would result in a hefty increase in insurance costs but not at all. I was effectively given a 'sick note' for the Insurance company that basically covered me for the duration of my holiday.
In brief, they define an Ablation as a procedure since your hospital stay is less than 24 hours or includes an overnight stay because of an afternoon procedure. (not an operation). I informed them that I have random ectopic or Tachycardia runs and that I may have a 'Pill in the Pocket' option recommended to me by my consultant. I think I have to make them aware of the tablet name before departure but without the risk of an Insurance increase. I do not know why I was so concerned about telling them, they did not take advantage of me and were incredibly professional once I got past the initial phone conversation. I say this because, I approached them and the initial assessor treated me like a murder suspect.
I think the biggest problem is that the insurance companies generalise and as soon as you tick 'heart condition', the insurance one arm bandit delivers them a jackpot. I felt that I was wrongly criticised in an earlier post when I suggested that every living human is at risk of a heart attack or stroke at any time and that we were being wrongly penalised. That said, of course there is a greater risk if you are waiting for a bypass or ablation and you (in my opinion) stupidly travel abroad prior to the procedure.
