Hi, I have paroxysmal AF. I'm mainly in normal sinus rhythm but due to a slight increase in episodes of AF and dramatic changes I have been forced to make to lifestyle to keep AF at bay consultant has put me on a waiting list for an ablation sonevtimevthus year (he hopes). My first attempt at getting cover on line has come up with a refusal to insure as I am awaiting a procedure. I'm hoping that once I start ringing around insurance companies that I may get some cover. In the meantime I was wondering if there are any specialist insurance companies out there which others have used under similar circumstances. Thanks Martin

Holiday insurance recommendations?
Your problem as you have found is that most companies will not insure if you are awaiting tests or procedure.
When I say not insure I mean they will not cover that condition under investigation. So you may get accidental cover and any sicknes not related to your heart but anything relevant will be excluded.
Thanks BobD. I really hadn't appreciated this would be the case. Think the holiday may have to be cancelled. If I find anyone that covers I'll post it. Thanks again
Here are some companies that have been recommended:
All Clear
Ok to Travel
Journey
Insurancewith. come
Admiral Insurance
Good to Go
Avanti
Carion
Paying too Much
Jean
Jeanjeannie50 that's really appreciated. I'll give them a go. Thanks Martin
I’d add TravelInsurance4Medical - specialist insurer but ring them as even they will refuse on-line - it’s just a regular algorithm reply - but I and at least 2 other people I know got insured whilst waiting for procedures through them and without too much loading - but they have to refer to their underwriters and so ask a lot more questions. Good luck.
Staysure cancelled my policy completely when I advised them I had been put on the waiting list for an ablation.
I did mine through Bupa in Australia. All they wanted to know was am I on anticoagulants. I did tell them when I got back from holidays I was going in for review
Thanks for all the advice. As an update I've managed to get cover. It seems once you bypass the online algorithm and speak to someone they are a lot more understanding. Its sort of comforting in a way to know that an old fashioned phone call can still achieve what can't be done on line. Got to admit I was a bit panicky last night when all the phones were down until the morning. Thanks again
hello if you don’t mind who did you get insured with and did they cover your AF.thanks
Hi George22, I used Total Travel Protection, covered me, wife and 16 year old son for approximately £70 for an 11 day holiday in Crete. We paid a bit extra for enhanced cancellation cover. We ensured that it was very clear in policy that AF and anything AF linked would be covered. Total Travel Protection is a trading name of Ancile Insurance Group. Hope this is helpful
thank you very much this is most helpful .regards Mary
