Hi

I had my ablation last Monday and I am struggling with discomfort in my chest , headaches and feeling sick like I have indigestion . Is this normal ?

I had a little discomfort in my chest - around my back but it faded after about a week but the acid reflux and indigestion took months to go - mine was caused by the TOE which I found out much later got stuck in my esophagus.  I also had a very sore throat for about 8 weeks - but the up side was no AF and the side effects all faded in time.  Just take it easy.

I chose not to take PPIs as there are some ?? concerning their use but controlled the acid reflux with diet and eating habits - I found carbs made it far worse so stopped eating them, more regular, small meals helped, sipping hot water regularly and a smoothie which I still have every morning made of 1 apple, 1/4 peeled lemon, 1/4" of peeled ginger taken on waking.  If too painful - I took liquid Gaviscon which all together worked to ease the discomfort of the heartburn.

HI 🎯,

Yes what you are experiencing is relatively common and nothing to cause you concern.

It may take a few weeks to clear but the reward of being Af free is well worth the short term discomfort.

Carol.

I had my ablation January 7th, a little over two and a half months. I was on Tikosyn before the ablation and my Doctor left me on it. I am to continue taking it for ninety days which is almost up.

I have not had any AF episodes other than two or three very mild increases in pulse rate which might not have been AF related.

I was also put on pantoprazole for thirty days for the acid reflux. I took that for the first thirty days after the ablation and as a result, I haven't had that problem either.

My ninety days since the ablation is coming up soon at which point I will discontinue the Tikosyn. I don't know what is going to happen then. I will just have to wait to find out.

Thank you everyone you have taken the pressure off. I had a small raised pulse last night of 96 but I hope that it will calm down as I be going back to work next week
