I was diagnosed with PAF in September last year and had a cryoablation in July this year,my symptoms were very mild, I am a keen cyclist and wasn’t aware I had it until it was diagnosed and then realised that I was having some episodes while out riding which was making some rides harder than they should be. My recovery was very easy with no problems and no further episodes and lots of long walks with my dog, after my 12 week follow up call in September it was agreed it would be safe to start riding again and I have been riding without problems for about 9 weeks, a few days ago I had an episode whilst just watching tv which lasted about 7 hours which again was mild but I captured the event on my Kardia app which I sent to my arrhythmia nurse who seems to think the ablation had failed and has made an appointment for me to talk to my specialist inJanuary, I was expecting her to say don’t worry that often happens so this has left me a bit deflated.
Has any one else experienced something similar?

If my maths are correct, it sounds a bit premature to say it has failed so it will be interesting to hear what your consultant says.
As a card carrying pessimist I would also be thinking that the ablation was not fully successful, but two things1. There is no doubt that you are not certain until at least 6 months have passed
2. My personal experience( and hope!) is that it is reasonable to think of ablation as a multi stage process a single procedure will always have a beneficial effect , but to nail the Deamon you may need another
I’m sure you will be sorted out one way or the other
Just had my call with the Dr, they didn’t say it was a one off but also don’t recommend another ablation, I have another follow up call in 6 months but told me to get in touch if I have any problems. It’s been over 6 weeks since that single episode so fingers crossed. Thanks once again for your replys
Update to original post. I have had 5 episodes in total, 23 Nov, 2nd June, 15 and 18 July and 12 Aug. all are relatively mild and correct themselves after about 6 hours. Each time I have recorded them on my Kardia app and sent them to the Arrhythmia nurses. They have now put me on the waiting list for a 3 D AF ablation, they have suggested it will be less than a year.My thoughts are as they are relatively mild and infrequent not to go ahead bearing in mind the risks of the procedure etc.
I would be interested to hear from any one in a similar situation and your thoughts.
