Honey and lemon is better recommended than lemsip. Or Vicks rubbed on soles of feet and put socks on before bed. Both sound strange but are evidence based and proven to work.

You might like to try blackcurrant jam, melt in saucepan with honey ( Manuka if you have faith in that and can afford it!) add a little water till syrupy. Take as often as you like,it keeps. Our old GP always said fruit pastilles were better than anything he could prescribe. Drink plenty so phlegm ( if there is any) is easier to cough up

Hi there Christo 4 yes it's not very pleasant, not only coughing but gives me a bad headache, nicely get one thing sorted out then up pops another. Don't know whether paracetamol will take this headache of but I guess I will have it till the cough goes take car be well Sann

Looks like a good idea re feet, might just have to find someone to rub my feet, as I have this horrible cough.

At the first sign of a cough I always have a level teaspoon of honey, dissolved in a half a glass of hot water and then add about 3 teaspoons of lemon juice. I find it works well and is also recommended by the pharmacist.

Hope you will soon be feeling better.

I take Pholcodine cough mixture if I have a bad cough. Although it does say take with caution for various ailments AF included my doctor and chemist recommended it. It is also quite cheap £1.20 at tesco but twice as much at boots. Seems to help the calm the cough and lossen it a bit.
