Can anyone suggest a cough medicine which can help a sometimes dry, sometimes productive cough which can be taken with warfarin? I used to take Pholcodeine which seemed to help but not sure if it is allowed anymore?

Cough medicine
Pharmacists are a great resource for knowing which medications go with what over the counter products - at least my local pharmacist is.
I too was going to say ask your pharmacist. They are probably more knowledgable than any one else
I am also on warfarin and was prescribed Pholcodeine yesterday when I was admitted to hospital. I have a nasty chest infection and the coughing had brought on my AF. The doctor said that most cough medicines are like chocolate teapots, but said that the Pholcodeine is very good. The doctor said that to keep on having regular checks on my INR. Wendy
Manuka honey, the best you can afford mixed with blackcurrrant jam has helped me in the past and INR didn't seem to suffer.
I took my prescription list into Boots & the pharmacist suggested Buttercup syrup, it works for me. I also find drinking hot ginger cordial before i go to bed helps, i seem to get up with less congestion.
I would reiterate what's already been said about asking your pharmacist. I was given Simple Linctus both by the pharmacist and in hospital.
